Brainwaves and NuCalm

Brainwaves are synchronized electrical impulses that influence our thoughts, emotions and behaviors; each brainwave frequency is associated with a certain state of being.  Brainwaves are produced by neurons in the brain.  Neurons are specialized cells that communicate with each other through synchronized electrical impulses.

NuCalm’s neuroacoustic tracks use nonlinear neurophysic-designed sounds to influence brainwave frequencies into the restorative states of Alpha and Theta brainwaves. These brainwave frequencies allow the perfect state for mind/body integration and deep restoration.

NuCalm processes brainwave patterns into the Alpha and Theta frequency ranges. This provides the perfect environment for learning, memory consolidation and immune support. Without enough time in these therapeutic brainwaves, we can’t tap into this restorative parasympathetic (rest and repair) state. Alpha and Theta brainwave states provide the ideal recovery zone of the body and spending enough time in this state every day is essential to our health.

Let NuCalm get you into a restorative state so that you can feel calm, heal your body, and conquer your day!

NuCalm uses scientifically designed neuroacoustic tracks to get brainwave frequencies into restorative patterns in which multiple therapeutic effects can take place.

German psychiatrist, Hans Berger discovered brainwaves 90 years ago. Although Berger at first had only primitive methods of recording (two wires placed under the scalp), he was nonetheless able to detect the rhythmic pattern of brain activity (aka brainwaves).

Brainwaves are produced by neurons in the brain. Neurons are specialized cells that communicate with each other through synchronized electrical impulses. Although it was known for a long time as “Berger’s wave,” the first brainwave Berger named was the Alpha wave. Berger detected that people generated these Alpha waves when resting with their eyes closed but when they opened their eyes, they immediately jumped to higher frequency brain activity: “beta waves.” The science of brainwaves has come a long way; we now know that each frequency level is associated with a state of being.

Each brainwave frequency is a set of electrical impulses occurring at various frequencies – some are fast, and some are slow. These frequency patterns are measured in hertz (Hz); the lower the “wave” the lower the hertz.

Occurring at 25-100Hz, Gamma brainwave frequency patterns are the fastest. They produce high levels of cognitive functioning and are often referred to as “being in the zone.”

Beta brainwaves are the second highest brainwave state and occur between 12.5-30Hz. They are correlated with cognitive tasks. Most of our normal waking consciousness is spent in Beta brainwaves. When we are active in conversation, completing work tasks, and engaged in decision making we are generating Beta waves. Beta brainwaves can also turn into feelings of anxiety and restlessness. Beta is sometimes referred to as the “nagging inner critic,” so it comes as no surprise as to why a majority of adults are stressed out.

Alpha brainwaves are slower and occur at 7.5-12.5Hz. They are associated with relaxation, visualization, and provide a “calming awareness.” Alpha is a non-aroused state and dominant during quietly flowing thoughts. When we are walking in the garden, resting or taking the time to meditate, we are in Alpha. Alpha is the optimal state for being “present.”

At an even lower frequency of 4-7H, Theta brainwaves are associated with light REM sleep, dreaming, deep meditation, deep restoration, and the replenishment of hormone reservoirs. Theta is sometimes referred to as a “twilight state” and is often experienced when we daydream and moments before falling asleep.

Delta is the lowest brainwave frequency (0.5-4HZ) and is the state of detached awareness. This brainwave activity is associated with deep dreamless sleep.

NuCalm processes brainwave patterns into the Alpha and Theta frequency ranges. This provides the perfect environment for learning, memory consolidation, mental coordination, immune support and the replenishment of hormone reservoirs. Without enough time in these therapeutic brainwaves, we can’t tap into this restorative parasympathetic (rest and repair) state. Alpha and Theta brainwave states provide the ideal recovery zone of the body and spending enough time in this state every day is essential to our health.

NuCalm works by using scientifically designed non-linear neuroacoustic tracks to take the mind into restorative brainwave patterns. NuCalm’s neuroacoustic tracks work by using multiple science-based techniques which include binaural beats and natural occurring sounds that have resonant frequencies. Binaural beats work by delivering multiple musical tones at slightly different frequencies to each ear. The brain then processes these tones to become a singular tone or frequency. These scientifically designed tones mimic the frequency levels of brainwaves, which in turn influences the brain into the desired brainwave pattern. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4428073/

Here’s an example:
Human ears cannot hear sounds delivered under 20Hz. To create an auditory response at a frequency range between 4-12Hz (from Theta to Alpha), binaural beats come into play. This method involves simultaneously delivering two tones with different frequencies into the left and right ears (ex. 250Hz to right ear, 255Hz to left ear). These sound waves will then meet in the sound-processing center of the brain where they will transform and result in a singular frequency of a 5Hz (ex. 255 – 250 = 5Hz).

Unlike traditional binaural beat music that is linear and predictable, the NuCalm tracks use a complex nonlinear structure of sound. This makes the music infinitely more dynamic and keeps the brain engaged, giving you reliable results every time you use NuCalm.

Our modern life causes us to spend too much time in a highly alert and aroused state. Being in a heightened state depletes the body and does not allow for proper rest and repair. Over-stimulation can morph into anxiety disorders, hyper-vigilance, and sleep disorders.

NuCalm puts a stop to the anxiety-prone Beta brainwaves and allows for optimal mind and body recovery. Let NuCalm get you into a restorative state so that you can feel calm, heal your body, and conquer your day!
